Donation to the late Mr Sakthivel Kumaravelu’s family

    07 January 2014

Mr. Sakthivel is the victim of the tragic traffic accident that took place on 8 December 2013.  He has left behind a mother who is ill and a younger brother who had sustained a brain injury.  Three months prior to his death, the family experienced the loss of a daughter/sister.  This was what the team at MWC found out when they contacted Mr. Sakthivel's mother in India, following the incident on 8 December.  To help alleviate the hardship faced by the surviving family members for the loss of their kin and the family sole breadwinner, a donation from MWC was extended as a token of condolence to the family.

The challenge that the team faced was in establishing the relationship of the deceased and his mother whom they had been talking to.  The process is a tricky one especially when the family is still in deep grief and the team were not certain which documents were needed for verification purpose.  After some research done and checking with friends in India, the team managed to find out which of the documents were necessary to conduct a proper verification.  Meanwhile, calls were received from a number of individuals who wished to offer their donations to the family and MWC agreed to facilitate the channeling of the donations since they were sending their token to the family via telegraphic bank fund transfer as well.

Fortunately, the family was very understanding and responded quickly with the submission of a list of documents requested by MWC. Individuals who called were advised to send in their donation by 24th December morning and all donations were transferred to the family on the same day.
